Darren Criss, the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor and Tony nominee, will continue in his role as Oliver in the Broadway production of Maybe Happy Ending through August 31, the show’s producers confirmed on Tuesday.

The original musical by Will Aronson and Hue Park, directed by Tony Award winner Michael Arden (Parade, Once on This Island), has been widely recognized this season, receiving 10 Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. The production is currently playing at the Belasco Theatre.

“When I first hit the road with Maybe Happy Ending, the only certainty was the shared passion everyone brought to it,” Criss said in a statement. “Now, I get to keep going to Jeju eight times a week until the end of August—and I’ll be looking forward to it every single time.”

Set in a near-future Seoul, Maybe Happy Ending explores the relationship between two outdated helper-bots who begin to experience connection, longing, and something like love. The story has resonated with critics and audiences alike, earning wins from the New York Drama Critics’ Circle (Best Musical), the Drama League (Outstanding Production of a Musical), and the Outer Critics Circle (Outstanding New Broadway Musical).

The cast also features Helen J Shen, winner of a Theatre World Award, alongside Dez Duron and Marcus Choi. The ensemble includes Steven Huynh, Hannah Kevitt, Daniel May, Christopher James Tamayo, and Claire Kwon.

The musical’s creative team includes scenic and video design by Dane Laffrey and George Reeve, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting by Ben Stanton, and sound design by Peter Hylenski. Deborah Abramson serves as music supervisor, with John Yun as music director.

An original Broadway cast recording, produced by Ghostlight Records, is now available on CD and digital platforms, with a vinyl edition scheduled for release on June 13. The recording includes liner notes by Grammy-nominated songwriter Stephen Trask and complete lyrics.

Maybe Happy Ending opened on Broadway in November 2024 to critical acclaim, with The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Entertainment Weekly naming it one of the best productions of the year. A North American tour is slated to launch in fall 2026, beginning at Baltimore’s Hippodrome Theatre, with additional stops in more than 30 cities planned.

The show is scheduled to run at the Belasco Theatre through at least January 18, 2026. Tickets are available at the box office, via Telecharge, or by phone at 212-239-6200.

Rush and lottery tickets are available in person and online, with day-of tickets priced at $40–$45 depending on availability.
