Intimate Adoption Documentary “LOVE CHAOS KIN” to Premiere at Brooklyn Film Festival
After eight years of filming, countless moments of vulnerability, and profound personal growth, the powerful documentary “LOVE CHAOS KIN” is making its long-awaited New York City debut at the Brooklyn Film Festival. The East Coast premiere will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Windmill Studios (300 Kingsland Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11222).
Directed and produced by Chithra Jeyaram, “LOVE CHAOS KIN” is an unflinching, intimate look at identity, race, and family. The film follows white-presenting twins of Navajo descent and their South Asian adoptive parents over a span of 12 years. As the twins reconnect with their struggling white birth mother and eventually meet their estranged Navajo birth father, the film challenges traditional adoption narratives with honesty and emotional depth.
At its heart, “LOVE CHAOS KIN” is a story about belonging. It embraces discomfort and contradiction while celebrating the hard-won beauty of love in all its complexity.
Jeyaram, also known for “Foreign Puzzle” and “Amma’s Pride,” invites audiences to witness a deeply personal and universal journey. The screening is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend and share the event widely.
