Rotten Tomatoes honors BLACK HISTORY MONTH

This Black History Month, Rotten Tomatoes is honoring the poignant and culture-altering work of Black filmmakers and performers as well as the stories they have brought to our theaters and homes over the last several years, with brand new lists outlining the 40 Films That Celebrate Black Joy15 Up and Coming Black Directors and 20 Under-the-Radar Black Movies to Watch Now. The iconic DJ Spooky has even conducted significant analysis of Black cinema with his History of Race Films.

In addition, the Rotten Tomatoes team has updated their lists ranking the Best Black Movies of the 21st Century and Important Films About the Black Experience, as the last year has created some incredible additions to both lists.

Throughout the month of February, content celebrating Black History Month will be added to Rotten Tomatoes, including a Black TV Binge Guide and a special Rotten Tomatoes is Wrong podcast episode about the critically Rotten but beloved by audiences film, Blade.

Should you be able to use this data, please link back to the Black History Month hub and credit Rotten Tomatoes.

Additionally, Rotten Tomatoes editor and spokesperson Jacqueline Coley is available to discuss these lists and initiatives. She is a member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) and African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) and is passionately committed to promoting diverse and under-represented voices in cinema.
