'SIX’ Celebrates Its 1,500th Broadway Performance With Royal Fanfare at the Lena Horne Theatre
The queens of Broadway have done it again. On Monday, May 19, the cast and creative team of SIX, the Tony Award®-winning musical by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, celebrated a dazzling milestone: their 1,500th performance on Broadway.
Since opening at the Lena Horne Theatre on October 3, 2021, SIX has evolved from a buzzy import into a full-fledged global phenomenon. With its signature blend of historical reinvention and pop concert swagger, the show reimagines the six wives of Henry VIII as 21st-century pop divas, each reclaiming her story in a fierce, high-octane remix of heartbreak and empowerment.
The current Broadway cast includes Najah Hetsberger (Catherine of Aragon), Gianna Yanelli (Anne Boleyn), Kelsie Watts (Jane Seymour), Krystal Hernandez (Anna of Cleves), Kay Sibal (Katherine Howard), and Taylor Marie Daniel (Catherine Parr). Alternates Aryn Bohannon, Sierra Fermin, Jana Larell Glover, and Jenny Mollet round out the royally talented company.
Directed by co-creators Lucy Moss and Jamie Armitage, with choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, SIX has won 23 awards, including the 2022 Tony Award® for Best Original Score. Critics have showered it with praise, with The New York Times calling it a “Critic’s Pick” and proclaiming, “SIX totally rules!” The Washington Post called it “exactly the energizing, inspirational illumination this town aches for.”
Behind the scenes, the design team features Emma Bailey (scenic design), Gabriella Slade (Tony Award®-winning costume design), Tim Deiling (lighting), and Paul Gatehouse (sound). Orchestrations are by Tom Curran with music supervision and vocal arrangements by Joe Beighton and U.S. music supervision by Roberta Duchak. Casting is by Tara Rubin Casting / Peter Van Dam, CSA, with Theater Matters as General Manager. Sam Levy serves as Associate Producer, and Lucas McMahon as U.S. Executive Producer.
For those who haven’t yet experienced the electrifying energy of SIX, tickets are available at www.SixOnBroadway.com. At 1,500 shows and counting, the queens show no signs of abdicating their throne.
