Be sure to tune in to CNN’s “Thanksgiving in America” on CNN with the Broadway cast of SIX singing “Ex-Wives” this Thursday morning from 8am to 12pm EST.
To kick off the holiday, we want to treat you to this Macy’s Parade performance of “Ex-Wives”/“Six” featuring the original Broadway company of SIX in 2021, and from 2022, a performance from the CBS coverage of the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Queens of Thanksgiving TV
The current Broadway cast of SIX will bring its electrifying opening number, “Ex-Wives,” to a national audience on CNN’s “Thanksgiving in America,” airing between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Eastern on Thursday on CNN and CNN streaming. The holiday broadcast, which spotlights parades and musical performances from across the country, will feature the Tudor queens-turned-pop icons alongside artists including Brad Paisley, The Temptations, The Four Tops and the Harlem Gospel Choir.
SIX has become a familiar presence in Thanksgiving programming, following its 2021 medley on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and a 2022 performance on CBS’s parade coverage—the very clips now being resurfaced to usher in this year’s festivities. Those appearances helped translate the show’s onstage concert energy to the small screen, building buzz well beyond Times Square.
Awards and a chart-topping cast album
Since opening on Broadway at the Lena Horne Theatre, SIX has earned eight Tony Award nominations, including best musical, and won two Tonys, among them best original score for creators Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss. The musical’s broader tally includes 23 awards, with honors from the Outer Critics Circle and other theater groups that have reinforced its status as a breakout hit.
The cast recording, SIX: LIVE ON OPENING NIGHT, made history as the first Broadway album recorded live on an opening night and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard cast album chart. It has drawn tens of millions of streams and received a Grammy nomination for best musical theater album, extending the show’s “queendom” far beyond theatergoers who can get to Broadway.
Box office momentum
Four years into its Broadway run, SIX continues to post healthy grosses at the Lena Horne Theatre. For the week ending Nov. 23, 2025, the musical reported about $663,000 in ticket sales, up more than 14 percent from the previous week, with roughly three-quarters of all available seats filled.
A prominent Thanksgiving slot on CNN offers another powerful nudge to prospective ticket-buyers, turning a morning on the couch into a future night at the theater.
