All Aboard the Eagle Train! Saturday, February 7,

All Aboard the Eagle Train! Teatown Partners with Metro-North for 22nd Annual Hudson River EagleFest® 2026 at Croton Point Park

Each winter, the bald eagles return to the Hudson River. This February, so will the Eagle Train — a one-of-a-kind Metro-North journey where bird enthusiasts can spot the nation’s emblematic raptors right from their seats.

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, trains will depart Grand Central Terminal at 9:25 a.m. and Poughkeepsie at 8:58 a.m., each featuring a guest naturalist who will guide passengers through prime eagle-watching territory along the river. As the Metro-North glides past icy riverbanks, riders can expect expert commentary, spotting tips, and real-time sightings of these majestic winter visitors.

A Rail Ride With Raptors

Teatown Lake Reservation and Metro-North Railroad have again teamed up to offer this rare experience as part of Teatown’s 22nd Annual Hudson River EagleFest®, celebrating the area’s most iconic bird of prey.

Cameron Swope, a member of Teatown’s founding family and longtime birdwatcher, will serve as the guest naturalist aboard the northbound train from Grand Central Terminal. On the southbound route from Poughkeepsie, Kyle Bardwell — a board member of the Putnam Highlands Audubon Society and active participant in several New York birding organizations — will lead the way.

Riders must purchase a standard Metro-North ticket to Croton-Harmon; EagleFest admission is sold separately here.

The Festival at Croton Point Park

Once at Croton Point Park, guests will find a full day of winter festivities celebrating the bald eagles’ migration along the Hudson. Attractions include live raptor demonstrations, family bird walks, storytelling, crafts, and local food vendors. The event’s snow date is Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Highlights of this year’s programming include:

Storyteller Jonathan Kruk and musician Steve Kellman are performing tales and songs about the Hudson’s eagles.

A family bird walk led by Teatown’s Director of Education, Emily Edmonds-Langham.

A breathtaking aerial display from Brian Bradley’s Skyhunters in Flight.

Wildlife rehabilitator Christine Peyreigne’s Christine’s Critters: Hawks, Owls, and Falcons, featuring close encounters with the world’s fastest animal — and New York’s smallest owl.

The 2026 EagleFest is made possible in part through a Market New York grant from Empire State Development, and I LOVE NY, New York State’s Division of Tourism. Sponsors include Con Edison, Win Waste Innovations, and the PCSB Foundation.

Teatown Lake Reservation was founded in 1963 as an outreach station of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Teatown Lake Reservation has evolved into the largest community-supported nature preserve in Westchester County. The Ossining-based nonprofit now protects more than 1,000 acres of forest, meadows, and lakes, offering 15 miles of hiking trails, educational programs, and conservation initiatives that inspire environmental stewardship.

Its name, “Teatown,” dates back to Revolutionary War times, when tea shortages and local protest gave rise to the area’s storied moniker.
