‘Paranormal Activity’ is coming to Broadway

Broadway has seen ghosts before. Witches. Cursed teenagers. Crashing chandeliers. This fall, Broadway will welcome something different: a live stage adaptation of “Paranormal Activity,” the horror franchise that reshaped modern horror for a generation.

“Paranormal Activity: A New Story Live on Broadway” will begin performances on August 14, 2026, before officially opening September 15 at the August Wilson Theatre for a limited 20-week engagement. The production arrives in New York after sold-out runs in London’s West End, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.

Written by Levi Holloway and directed by Felix Barrett, the creator of “Sleep No More,” the play follows James and Lou, a couple who move from Chicago to London, hoping to leave their past behind, only to discover that the haunting follows them. Barrett, whose immersive work helped redefine downtown theater in New York, said he has long been fascinated by how audiences respond to fear inside a live performance space.

Casting has not yet been announced. The Broadway production will feature illusions by Chris Fisher, whose recent work on “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” earned a Special Tony Award. Sound design is by Gareth Fry, projections are by Luke Halls, and scenic and costume design is by Fly Davis.

The production also has major horror credentials behind the scenes. Jason Blum, founder of Blumhouse Productions and one of the producers behind the original film franchise, has joined the Broadway producing team.

Released in 2009, the original “Paranormal Activity” became a global hit, earning nearly $200 million worldwide and helping revive the found-footage horror genre.

Tickets are now on sale through Paranormal Activity Broadway
