Film at Lincoln Center Names 2026 Artists and Critics Academy Participants for NYFF64

Film at Lincoln Center has announced the emerging filmmakers and film critics selected for its 2026 FLC Artists Academy and FLC Critics Academy, taking place during the 64th New York Film Festival.

Film at Lincoln Center (FLC) has announced the participants for its 2026 FLC Artists and Critics Academy programs, which will take place during the 64th New York Film Festival (NYFF64). Designed to support the next generation of filmmakers and film writers, the programs emphasize professional development, mentorship, and a film culture that embraces a broad range of voices and storytelling perspectives.

Presented by Film at Lincoln Center in partnership with Rolex, the 64th New York Film Festival runs September 25 through October 12, 2026, at Lincoln Center and venues across New York City.

FLC Artists Academy

Led by award-winning filmmaker Stacey Marbrey, the FLC Artists Academy draws on New York’s filmmaking community to provide early-career filmmakers with an intensive three-day workshop during NYFF64.

Participants meet established filmmakers and industry professionals to discuss their work, strengthen creative and professional skills, explore the collaborative filmmaking process, and develop strategies for building sustainable careers in film.

Past mentors and speakers have included Steve McQueen, Christine Vachon, Jonathan Glazer, Kathryn Bigelow, Reinaldo Marcus Green, Rashaad Ernesto Green, Rebeca Huntt, RaMell Ross, Allison Carter, Jon Read and the Safdie brothers.

Artists Academy alumni have gone on to premiere work at Cannes, Venice, Sundance, Tribeca, Berlin, Locarno, Rotterdam, DOC NYC and the New York Film Festival, while earning recognition from the Academy Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Gotham Awards, Black Reel Awards and UNESCO.

The FLC Critics Academy, led by Film Comment editors Devika Girish and Clinton Krute, focuses on developing the next generation of film critics and entertainment journalists.

During a two-day NYFF64 workshop, early-career critics will receive guidance on both the craft and business of film criticism, including pitching and freelancing, the editorial process, different forms of criticism, interviewing, and the use of social media by film critics.

Participants also receive full press access to the New York Film Festival and opportunities to cover NYFF64 for leading film publications while working closely with experienced editors.

Previous Critics Academy participants have gone on to write for outlets including Brooklyn Magazine, The Guardian, Film Comment, Filmmaker Magazine, L.A. Weekly, Los Angeles Times, MUBI Notebook, The Nation, The New Republic, The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, The Paris Review, Reverse Shot, SEEN, Sight and Sound and Vulture.
