Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham Bring Apple TV’s “Nocturne” to New York City for Red Carpet Premiere
Apple TV’s chilling new crime thriller, based on Lars Kepler’s bestselling novels, premieres October 30 with a deadly game of cat and mouse.
New York City got a taste of murder and mystery on Tuesday, October 20, as Apple TV rolled out the red carpet at Regal Union Square for the premiere of “Nocturne,” its highly anticipated psychological crime drama starring Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham. Thankfully, the only thing being hunted that evening was a good photograph.
The star-studded NYC premiere brought together Schreiber, Beetz and Graham alongside fellow cast members Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan, Gary Carr and Landon Valentin. Writer, co-showrunner and executive producer John Hlavin also joined the festivities.
Based on “Lazarus” and “The Sandman,” two internationally bestselling crime novels by Lars Kepler, “Nocturne” follows Jonah Lynn (Schreiber), a former soldier turned Philadelphia homicide detective who trades the city's unforgiving streets for what he hopes will be a quieter life in western Pennsylvania.
Naturally, that plan goes spectacularly wrong.
When the diabolically cunning serial killer Jurek Walter (Graham) threatens Jonah's family and his new community, the detective is dragged into a terrifying confrontation. The stakes rise when the search for Jurek's last missing victim forces Jonah to send his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Beetz), directly into the killer's orbit. Just how far will Jonah go to protect the people he loves?
Behind the camera, the thriller boasts equally impressive credentials. Tim Van Patten, the Emmy, Peabody, and DGA Award-winning director whose credits include “Masters of the Air,” “Franklin,” and “Black Mirror,” directs the first two episodes and executive produces. The series is created for television by Joffé, with John Hlavin serving as developer, writer, showrunner and executive producer. Schreiber and Beetz also executive produce, the latter through her Sleepy Poppy production company.
Produced by A+E Studios in association with Range Studios, the adaptation draws from a literary phenomenon. Lars Kepler, the pen name of Swedish writing duo Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril, has sold an astonishing 20 million copies across 10 crime novels, translated into 40 languages and distributed in more than 170 territories.
“Nocturne” premieres globally on Apple TV on Friday, October 30, 2026, with two episodes, followed by a new episode every Friday through December 25.
For viewers who prefer their holiday entertainment with a generous helping of psychological terror, Apple TV has apparently wrapped up the perfect gift.
