Olivia Colman Orders a Husband Made of Wicker — and Alexander Skarsgård Delivers in “Wicker,” Opening October 23

Love, lust and one very unusual husband collide in the Sundance favorite starring Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Peter Dinklage and Elizabeth Debicki.

Who needs dating apps when you can simply have a husband custom-made?

In “Wicker,” opening nationwide Friday, October 23, 2026, Oscar winner Olivia Colman plays an ostracized fisherwoman who asks the village basketmaker (Peter Dinklage) to weave her a husband. The result? Alexander Skarsgård — a surprisingly soulful, spectacularly gifted wicker man whose romantic prowess sends the entire village into a jealous frenzy.

Talk about marriage material.

Written and directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson (“Save Yourselves!”), this deliciously audacious romantic fantasy explores sex, marriage and the ridiculous rules society insists on imposing.

And the craftsmanship is no illusion. Skarsgård's extraordinary transformation was achieved with a fully practical suit created by Oscar-winning Wētā Workshop, the team behind “The Lord of the Rings” and “Avatar.” The creative team also includes Oscar-winning cinematographer Lol Crawley (“The Brutalist”), production designer Renátó Cseh (“Poor Things”) and composer Anna Meredith (“Eighth Grade”).

Also starring Elizabeth Debicki, “Wicker” arrives in theaters following rave reviews and a double standing ovation at Sundance.

A wicker husband who actually listens? Hollywood may have finally discovered the ultimate romantic fantasy.

“Wicker” opens nationwide October 23.
