Italian-born visual artist Marco Perego explores prison life and its aftermath in the strikingly poignant drama DOVECOTE. Filmed inside Giudecca's working women's prison on an island in the Venetian lagoon, the carefully constructed script of this ethereal short starring Zoe Saldaña, vividly recreates the final hours before her release, while examining the emotional realities faced by her fellow prisoners (portrayed by 20 actual inmates of the prison).
The film was exhibited at the 60th Venice Biennale this year as part of the Vatican Pavilion and has qualified to be considered for the 2025 Oscars®️.
