Concord Theatricals Acquires Licensing Rights for Broadway’s Good Night, and Good Luck
Stage adaptation of the acclaimed film joins Samuel French catalog
Concord Theatricals has secured exclusive worldwide English-language stage licensing rights to Good Night, and Good Luck, the new Broadway play by George Clooney and Grant Heslov. The licensing will be managed under Concord’s Samuel French imprint. The Acting Edition of the script is set to be released this summer.
“We are excited that Good Night, and Good Luck will be published and made available for licensing through Concord Theatricals,” said Clooney and Heslov in a joint statement. “We look forward to seeing this story on bookshelves and stages around the world.”
According to Concord’s Chief Theatricals Executive Sean Patrick Flahaven, “It’s a privilege to add George and Grant’s play to Concord’s catalog of landmark shows that engage in cultural critique. This is a brilliant adaptation for the stage. Professional theatres, community theatres, universities, and schools will all find it compelling.”
Based on the 2005 Warner Bros. film of the same name—also written by Clooney and Heslov—the new play transports audiences to the Golden Age of television journalism, when Edward R. Murrow confronted the rise of McCarthyism in America. Chronicling CBS’s newsroom during a moment when truth battled fearmongering, the play explores how Murrow and his team fought back against a tide of propaganda with integrity and resolve.
Directed by Tony Award winner David Cromer, the Broadway production opened on April 3, 2025, at the Winter Garden Theatre. Tickets are currently available at telecharge.com.
