Apply by April 2 at 10:00 a.m. to see “Schmigadoon!” before its first preview
Broadway fans have a narrow window to secure one of the earliest seats to “Schmigadoon!”—before the musical begins previews on April 4.
The production has announced that its April 3 dress rehearsal at 7:00 p.m. at the Nederlander Theatre will be open to the public through a limited ticket release. For theatergoers, this is a rare opportunity to experience the show before its official debut.
The key deadline is Thursday, April 2 at 10:00 a.m. That is when the digital lottery closes.
Up to 400 free tickets will be distributed through the online lottery, powered by Broadway Direct. Winners, who will be notified by email, may claim one or two tickets. Entry requires signing up for the show’s fan list via its official website, where the lottery link is provided. Once the window closes at 10:00 a.m., entries will no longer be accepted.
For those who miss the lottery, there is a second, less certain option. On Friday, April 3, at 5:00 p.m., the Nederlander Theatre box office (208 West 41st Street) will distribute up to 200 free tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. Demand is expected to be high.
The timeline is tight by design. This access is for a single performance—the dress rehearsal on April 3—just one night before previews begin. By April 4, the show will move into its regular performance schedule, and early access will no longer be available.
“Schmigadoon!” stars Alex Brightman and Sara Chase as Josh Skinner and Melissa Gimble, a couple who find themselves in a town where life unfolds like a musical and the only way out is to find true love. The cast also includes Ana Gasteyer, Ann Harada, Brad Oscar, Isabelle McCalla, Ivan Hernandez, Maulik Pancholy, Max Clayton, McKenzie Kurtz, and Ayaan Diop.
The production is backed by Lorne Michaels and features a book and score by Cinco Paul, with direction and choreography by Christopher Gattelli.
The show will officially open on April 20 and run through September 6.
For now, the urgency is clear: the lottery closes April 2 at 10:00 a.m. After that, the earliest opportunity to see “Schmigadoon!” will be gone.
